Went here on March 11th, to get a diagnostic done on my 2018 Toyota Sienna AWD having popping sounds in sterring - needless to say, they booked me out 2 1/2 weeks later to do an assessment. For something that only takes 15 to 20 min to assess the problem, they put me in the ditch, 2-3 weeks later. Besides, my 10 yr old son over hearing everything, had a very good point... "Dada, he doesn't sound straight up." - so, I went to Folbeck 4x4, which got me in much earlier!!! - and even let me know what the culprit most likely is.UPDATE: Followed up with my near 3 wk Appt, showing up to find the mysterious gremlin thats living in front of passenger side whereas Folbeck 4x4 couldn't find. Preferred Auto recognized me & was shock to see that I showed up after reading previous (above) review, having written me off knowing I went with an earlier Appt @ Folbeck 4x4, they took me in anyway.Expecting a 3 hr wait, Preferred Auto called me back in ~ 1.5 hr assuring me that's it's nothing harmful (as I'm trading it in for a Manual Tacoma by July) to be concerned ~ as Control Arms are good, Tie Rods too, and even an unbolted break line they bolted back on (done by the mechanic dn S (Burbank) that I've been with for over 35+ years). Needless 2say, they found the culprit, the evasive mysterious gremlin making the popping sound in a parked / parking lot only, to be after market shocks, NOT OEM / Toyota genuine parts, hence it's safe to drive but with annoying popping sound in lots.So, unlike others, I've decided to Upgrade their 1 Star rating to a 5 Star being that they did find a likely culprit AND NOT charge me for a diagnostic fee for something that is mundane, as did "Folbeck 4x4" did for $200+ for not find nothing! (but offered a discount for Diagnostic fee on next repair - Note: bring in your parts, hourly is $265; go with their parts, hourly is $165 @ Folbeck)Lastly, it's hard, very very very hard 2 find a decent mechanic these days, being that I'm aborting my S mechanic in CA, I'm now going with Preferred Auto, they've earned it, they've dealt with me, they've proved themselves. I'll be turning it over to Lil Dude (Dariq) who will be taking my 2026 Taco to them as he'll have my 305k viewers backing behind him as well- truly, thank all of you!!!

Leo was amazing and took time for a quick unscheduled look at my car to ensure that it was / wasn’t safe to continue driving. My family has been going to Preferred Auto Care for over 30 years. Not only is their service (customer and vehicle) superb but you can always count on a fair price and a breakdown of what you need to do versus what isn't necessary at this time. Consistently good service at fair prices. I have taken both a 2016 Honda HRV (starter replacement) and a 2020 Corolla (oil change and CVT service) here. Both times the services were better priced than at the respective dealerships. I will continue to maintain both vehicles here, as I know it's getting done right.

We called on Monday morning and had my daughter’s 20 year old truck towed there. They were honest that they might get to it for at least a week due to appointments. Next day they call had diagnosed issue, were getting permission for parts, and then had replaced her radiator same day. A week took a 1 1/2 days. Great customer service- honest, fast, and really caring.

It’s rare these days to find a shop that reminds you what good, human service really feels like, but Preferred Auto Care did exactly that.I showed up without an appointment, dealing with an unusual issue involving my “catch can” — something not exactly common or routine. Without hesitation, one of the techs literally stopped what he was doing (with a vehicle up on the lift, no less) and came over to help me out.He diagnosed the issue, addressed it, and had me back on the road in about 8 minutes flat. No upsell, no runaround, no attitude — just pure professionalism and a willingness to help.It’s small encounters like this that say everything about a person and their shop. They care. They prioritize people over profit and make you feel like more than just another transaction.If I ever need to bring in any of my vehicles for service or repairs, I know where I’m going — back here, 100%.Shops like this are few and far between. Had a great experience with this auto shop! They were thorough, professional, and took the time to clearly explain the results of my inspection over the phone. We went over the service plan together to make sure everything made sense, and they followed through exactly as promised. It’s rare to find a shop that communicates this well and works with such care. I’ll definitely be bringing my car back here in the future. Highly recommend!

I recently bought a used Lexus and was searching around for mechanics in the area who specialize in Asian car makers like Toyota/Lexus vehicles. Preferred Auto Care came up b/c of the great reviews and now I know why!You can tell that the shop owner, Leo, cares about the business. The Lexus that I bought already has 143,000 miles so I got all the major fluids replaced (oil, transmission, brake fluid, & engine coolant) all drained and refilled.I really appreciate how they use OEM products from Toyota/Lexus instead of the cheap stuff. My car is driving so much better already!And it was MUCH cheaper than the Lexus dealership quoted me. Highly recommend them if you're looking for an honest and local business to support!!!

Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Acura, Lexus only! Highly recommend this place if you own any of these makes and need an honest mechanic. Leo, the owner, is the most reasonable person I've done repair work with in Reno (have taken 5 different Toyotas here). Preferred never has tried to sell unnecessary services and they have fixed multiple issues Dolan Toyota could not. This place does book up quickly, so make an appointment in advance!

I was trying to jump start my Lexus RX330. The battery was drained due to the lights on overnight. However, I made a big mistake plugging the opposite polarity and car wouldn't start any more. I looked up Yelp and Google, both show Preferred Auto has a great rating, so I called up and Leo agreed to take my car despite he's already got a busy week schedule. I stopped by and explained the situation. He quickly identifed the issue, ordered the parts and got it fixed the next day! The price is very reasonable. I feel Preferred Auto is a place I can trust, and don't have to worry about being upcharged.

Trustworthy, honest, smart and swift. My car decimated a brand new battery and started spitting yellow fluid everywhere, I had to go to work and was so so ill prepared. I had it towed to preferred auto around 1pm on a Friday expecting my upcoming work week to be ruined, instead Leo was handing my keys and sending me off to my perfectly fixed car. The experts recognized the problems right away and had parts on hand, I was home and worry free when I had expected to spend the rest of the night frantically scrambling for solutions. So glad to have found these guys! Now I actually have something to say when people ask me for a mechanic recommendation.

Preferred Auto Care is great. I had the front axle, control arm, struts, lift, and a few other things done on my vehicle. They did a excellent job on my vehicle. Customer service was great and they kept me informed about my vehicle as it was getting work done. They had alot to do on my vehicle so it was at the shop for a little while. My friends recommend this shop and I am glad they did because it is a good shop. I definitely support these guys. I would highly recommend checking them out.
